In addition to my clinical work, I am a writer, poet, and researcher and have been a professor in the Masters in Social Work program at Smith College for 4 years.
For more than 20 years, I have had the privilege of working with children, individuals, and families across a variety of settings. My professional experience spans social services, education, and private therapy, giving me a well-rounded understanding of the many challenges people face throughout different stages of life. I have 45 years of experience and specialize in many areas of expertise - addictions, LGBTQ+ mood disorders, trauma, grief, workplace issues to name a few.. I am a total insurance based practice and slide scale if necessary. Therapy is a process of self healing , discovery, growth and positive change. I try to promote a relaxed, open empathic experience with support and feedback. Prior to a first visit , I will do a 15 minute free consultation to see if we are a good fit. If we schedule an appointment, I will find out insurance benefits because I like all financial expectations out of the way so that it does not take time out of the session. Forms and consents are also sent via email prior to the session, so that any " business" needs are out of the way.

I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. The ideal client is open, courageous, and dedicated to their personal growth. They engage in therapy with honesty, ready to explore and understand their inner world. Embracing change with a patience and self-compassion, they can recognize that healing is a journey. Life is too precious to spend in bad relationships, holding grudges, letting trauma control us, or feeling anxious and angry.
