I am a New York state and New Jersey state licensed clinical psychologist. I received my doctorate in psychology from Long Island University-Post. I completed an APA accredited internship from Mt. Sinai Services-Elmhurst Hospital Center. I received postdoctoral training from New York University Counseling and Wellness Services. I specialize in working with adults with concerns regarding career, relationships, life transitions, identity, anxiety, eating disorder/body image, and grief/loss.
I am passionate about creating a warm, safe, and inclusive atmosphere for all persons. I empower individuals to feel seen and freely express themselves throughout our work together. In my clinical work, I collaborate with clients to identify their personal goals and strengths, deepen insight, and navigate various life experiences. With all clients, I aim to cultivate acceptance and self-compassion. My hope is for all clients, including those who have endured trauma, to feel safe in their body and supported in their experience. I am patient, humble, and continuously inspired by the opportunity to sit with others on their journey. My specialties include supporting children, adolescents and adults with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, personality disorders, eating disorders, ADHD, OCD, gender and identity concerns, and relationship stressors.
My name is J.J. Mull -- I'm a clinical social worker and therapist in private practice. Since finishing my training, I have worked in a wide range of settings with people struggling with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, substance use disorders, significant trauma, and many other issues. In addition to my clinical work, I am a writer, poet, and researcher and have been a professor in the Masters in Social Work program at Smith College for 4 years.

My professional experience spans social services, education, and private therapy, giving me a well-rounded understanding of the many challenges people face throughout different stages of life. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience working in schools, hospitals and community centers in a variety of roles. I now specialize in supporting adults dealing with anxiety. My approach is holistic, compassionate and solution focused, which each session thoughtfully tailored to unique needs and concerns
I have 45 years of experience and specialize in many areas of expertise - addictions, LGBTQ+ mood disorders, trauma, grief, workplace issues to name a few.. I am a total insurance based practice and slide scale if necessary. Therapy is a process of self healing , discovery, growth and positive change. I try to promote a relaxed, open empathic experience with support and feedback. Prior to a first visit , I will do a 15 minute free consultation to see if we are a good fit. If we schedule an appointment, I will find out insurance benefits because I like all financial expectations out of the way so that it does not take time out of the session. Forms and consents are also sent via email prior to the session, so that any " business" needs are out of the way.
